School at wisco just ended this week. If nothing happens this week, I would lose pretty much all hope.

On another note, this signing may have saved murray's ass for a few extra months. Great goalie for a great contract. I'm excited for training camp to see what the guy can do.

Probably backup hiller. Deslauriers is crap which is why hiller had to play all those games last year. Anyone at this point will be better than him. And by that I also mean that ellis will not be resigned.

I have a good feeling about this signing. We know what JDD and Ellis can and cannot bring, we lost Tarkki, and Bobkov/Gibson are nowhere near ready. This is a good gamble to take imo, and beats signing a UFA backup long term or relying on JDD. Here's hoping he can start 25 games and keep an above .500 record. That would be huge for this team and for Hiller.

If he goes anywhere he'll go to a contender.. I don't think he wants to go to a place where he will already be the #1 dman. If he's going to a canadian team it'll be the canucks or leafs.

I'm banking on the Leafs if Schenn gets traded. If not, I'll say Edmonton.

First off, the Canucks are a great regular season team, but they will NEVER win a Stanley Cup. Secondly, the Leafs are a.......contender? Are you (franking) serious? And finally, the next Canadian team to win a Stanley Cup will be the Edmonton Oilers. Schultz will come to Edmonton to not only be a top-pairing defenseman & get a ton of playing time, but he'll also come because he wants to be a part of the next great dynasty.

When I see the oilers I picture a team with a ton of high draft picks that have little experience. Sure they're going to be great players one day, but offense only gets you so far. Then I see a team with no defense and no consistent goalie. If you've watched the playoffs these days you realize why defense is so important (your canucks example). Offense does not win championships.

Oh, I agree. Offense does not win championships. But the majority of people who say we have no defense or goaltending are the people who don't follow and/or watch Oiler games. We have a ton of d-prospects, some solid d-men already on the team who are young & improving by the year, and we have Devan Dubnyk who's also getting better by the year. Once this team is ready to compete for the cup, look for Tambi to deal to bring in the final couple pieces, be it a d-man or a goalie. This team will be the surprise success story of the 2012/13 season, you can count on it.

Well you're completely right; I don't watch any oilers games unless they play the ducks. I just think your team is a lot farther than you think. We've been saying the same thing out in anaheim about our d and look how that turned out this year. I thought you guys were going to be good this year. That definitely didn't work out as planned. I give it a few more years until you make the playoffs.

Dan Ellis should be done in the NHL.

Lord knows he's too stressed out from making millions...he needs to get back to working for 50k a year...you know the easy life, the road to early retirement and relaxation.

Ducks have a good track record of finding goalkeepers from Europe: Hiller, Gerber, Bryzgalev....
